In
its largest expansion yet, coming at the close of its first |
| decade in business, Hogan
Hardwoods & Moulding has purchased the |
| former Willamette Plywood Plant
in Ruston, La. The purchase was made |
| after about two months of
discussions and negotiations with Weyerhaeuser |
|
Company which had become owner of the facility
after its merger with Willamette Industries. |
|
“We were ready for a major expansion and we were thinking about
building what we needed,” Hogan Hardwoods founder and CEO David
Hogan said. “Then we started thinking seriously about trying to
acquire this site which had been empty since Willamette closed
it prior to the Weyerhaeuser takeover. We felt this would meet
our needs well and at the same time benefit the local economy.” |
|
Hogan Hardwoods & Moulding plans to move all of its
manufacturing and moulding production to the former Willamette
site and then expand it there. Also involved in this
reorganization will be the move of the kiln drying operation to
the site as well. The Willamette site is approximately 44 acres
with a 125,000 square foot building that includes access to a
rail spur. |
|
“What we are doing with this restructuring and expansion will
triple the capacity of our moulding plant,” Hogan said. “It
will allow us to add more state-of-the-art machinery and
equipment to produce other products. |
