White Maple Definition:

White Maple refers to the sapwood content.  The terms #1 and #2 White Maple designate the sapwood requirements of the cuttings and not the requirements of the entire face of the board (See pages 3-5 under Grading Rules).  White Maple is divided into two color grade requirements.  In #1 White Maple the entire cutting (face and back) must be 100% white.  In #2 White Maple the face and both edges must be white and the back of the cutting must be at least 50% white.  Generally, the color selections of #1 and #2 white maple are combined and sold as #1 and #2 White Maple.
