Basswood is termed Linden and Limewood in Europe. Basswood is well suited for carvings, mouldings, cabinets and paints well. When moulded, Basswood is an excellent choice if the mouldings have a very intricate profile. Basswood maintains a "crisp" shape after moulded.

Basswood is known as the "softie" of the hardwoods. By this, it is meant that although Basswood is a hardwood (botanically), it is very soft in weight....about one half the weight of Oak.

Fagus grandifolia

Beech has the hardness, weight and color of Yellow Birch and Hard Maple. Beech machines cleanly, has excellent resistance to abrasive wear, finishes nicely and is well suited for flooring, cabinets, furniture and mouldings. Beech is an excellent substitute for Birch and Maple.

Bubinga, African

Hogan Hardwoods International imports Bubinga from sawmills in Congo and Cameroun. Bubinga is also known as African Rosewood, Kevanzingo and Kewazinga. The wood is a medium reddish brown color with lighter red to purple veining. Bubinga is excellent for wood turning.

Cedar, Aromatic Red

Junperus virginiana

All Aromatic Red Cedar is knotty and Hogan Hardwoods & Moulding requires a high percentage of heartwood from our suppliers. The more numerous the knots and heartwood will produce the most pleasing odor. Aromatic Red Cedar must be carefully seasoned to retain the aromatic oils that produce the pleasing odor. Aromatic Red Cedar is the best choice for closet lining.
