Red Gum and Sap Gum come
from the same species of tree....also,
known as Sweet Gum. Red Gum is produced
from the "heartwood" and Sap gum is produced from the
"sapwood" of the Sweet Gum tree. Gum turns
well and also responds to the shaper, planer and moulder
with successful results. The well-defined heartwood
varies from a pinkish-brown to a deep reddish brown,
often with a mottled or marbled appearance. |
