| Eucalyptus spp. |
New Product |
|
Lyptus is a natural hybrid of
Eucalyptus grandis and Eucalyptus urophylla. Lyptus is a new concept in
high-quality hardwoods. The species is grown in Brazil in a
sustainable way, using advanced environmental technology. Lyptus
is grown in renewable plantations interspersed with native species forest reserves than
ensure a balance between ecosystems and protection of the
environment. |
|
Lyptus is a
hardwood that is stronger than Hard Maple, yet matures in about 15
years... that is about four to five times faster than Cherry or
Genuine Mahogany. Lyptus sustainable managed forest assures
consistent quality, supply and a pleasantly predictable price. |
|
Lyptus is light
to dark red in color with a grain that resembles Genuine Mahogany.
Lyptus is an excellent choice for cabinets, doors, moulds
beautifully and is great for flooring. |

Magnolia grandiflora |
|
Magnolia is moderately
hard, fine-textured, straight grained, easy to work and
is well suited to a great many purposes. In
appearance it is somewhat like Yellow Poplar, but in
hardness it compares with American Walnut. |
|
Once kiln dried, Magnolia
is a stable wood which stays in place well.
Magnolia's end grain machines well and therefore is an
excellent choice for paint grade raised panel doors and
drawer fronts. |

Mahogany |
|
Ribbon Stripe
Mahogany is quarter-sawn lumber.
Quarter-sawn lumber is stable and the "Ribbon
Stripe" is beautiful. Boat builders require
quarter-sawn Mahogany, not for the beauty, but for
the stability. |
|
|
With more and more South
American Government restrictions on the export of
timber, Genuine Mahogany is increasing in price, the
width and lengths have become narrower and shorter
respectively and the "wooly grain" now is more prevalent
in the FAS and Selects grades than in past years.
Hogan Hardwoods & Moulding features African Mahogany as
an economically attractive alternative. With
African Mahogany, the width and length averages are
superior to Genuine Mahogany. |
|
African Mahogany is a
True Tropical Mahogany, just as the Genuine Mahogany
from the wide geographic range of South America and
Central America. Both species are from the same
botanical family. Both are true Mahoganies. |
|
The color and workability
of African Mahogany very closely resemble the
performance of Genuine Mahogany and the wood finishes
well. |
