(Worm Hole a Defect)
Red Maple: Acer rubrum; Silver
Maple: Acer saccharinum |
|
Soft Maple has many of the
general characteristics as Hard Maple but is not nearly
as hard or strong. Both Red Maple and
Silver Maple are commercially marketed and
distributed as "Soft Maple". at Hogan Hardwoods
and Moulding, we purchase our Soft Maple from mills that
produce lumber that is 80% white-one-face.
Also, we inventory Soft Maple that is 100%
white-one-face at a slight premium in price. |

Red Maple and Silver
Maple Comparison: |
|
Red Maple:
So named for its early spring, bright red flowers
that are one of the most conspicuous features of
the hardwood forest. Beginning in autumn,
the leaves turn fiery red making the tree again
one of the most important spectacles in the
landscape. Silver Maple: Silver
Maple gets it's name from the lustrous silvery
under-surface of the leaves. Both Red and
Silver Maple are classified as Soft Maple. |
