Custom Moulding

Solid Hardwood Flooring

Hogan Hardwoods

& Moulding is a

major manufacturer of custom hardwood flooring.  we have manufactured custom hardwood flooring from most species listed in on this site.

Typically, strip flooring is a term given to material that is 3-1/2" or narrower and plank flooring is 4" or wider.  We recommend that plank flooring be quarter sawn.  Quarter sawn lumber has a harder wearing surface and shrinks and expands about one has as much as flat sawn lumber.  Wood is hygroscopic:  It will absorb moisture and expand when exposed to high humidity and, conversely, expel moisture and shrink in low humidity environments, changing and balancing

Required Job Site Conditions

1

The building is fully enclosed; all windows and exteriors doors are installed.

2

The proper subfloor nailing base is installed.

3

The heating/cooling system is operational.

4

Always use a professional flooring contractor for installation.

Proper jobsite acclimation is essential for the installation of a high-quality, serviceable hardwood floor!

with its general surroundings.  On average, wood will change 1% in dimension for each 4% change in it's ambient moisture content.  (See Effects of Humidity on Wood and Equilibrium Moisture Content).

Tongue and Groove, Plain End

All Hogan Hardwoods & Moulding's custom flooring is tongue and grooved on the long edges.  Ends of boards are not machined and must be cut on the job site.  Allow 10%-12% waste over your required coverage footage for end trim.

Backouts

Typically, we manufacture custom hardwood flooring with a "stress-relief" pattern on the underside of each piece to minimize the effects of moisture-related dimensional changes.  Relief types include grooved back or hollow back.  The choice of back out is optional but all custom hardwood flooring should have a backout.
