Obeche is a good cabinet wood that is also known as Ayous, Samba,

Arere, Wana and Abachi Soft textured and white in color. Obeche is easy to work

and glues well. It is sometimes called White Mahogany, but it is not in the

Mahogany family.

The West African beauty is also called Vermillion and Corail. African Padauk is rosy to crimson red in color, and exposure to the wood dust may cause minor respiratory problems. Padauk is truly one of the beautiful woods in the world, and its beauty increases with age after finishing.

Padauk is imported by sawmills from Cameroun, Spanish Guinea and Congo by Hogan Hardwoods International.

Purpleheart, South American

Peltogyne densiflora

Hogan Hardwoods International imports Purpleheart directly from sawmills in Brazil and Guyana. Purpleheart is found throughout Central and South America and is also know as Amaranth, and Violet Wood. Purpleheart is an excellent exterior wood with other uses being for cabinets, furniture, turnings and flooring. When fresh cut, the wood is a purple color which darkens in time to a rich brown through oxidation. Purpleheart is imported directly from sawmills in Brazil, Guyana by Hogan Hardwoods International.
